EVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP) - Authorities say a southern Indiana man has been arrested in connection with the fentanyl-based overdose death of a 22-year-old woman.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office said Friday that 25-year-old Kalib Powell of Evansville is accused of selling the drug to Jacilynn Holifield, also of Evansville. An autopsy found an overdose of the fentanyl powder caused her death.

Powell was arrested Wednesday and is being held at the Henderson Detention Center. The Associated Press left a message for his attorney.

Officials say in a release that Powell was selling fentanyl on the streets to people addicted to opioids. If convicted, he faces a sentence of 20 years to life in prison.
