SEATTLE (AP) - A man has been charged with a hate crime after police say he harassed two men at a Seattle mosque.
KIRO-TV reports 62-year-old Andre Sterling of Renton was charged with two counts of malicious harassment in the alleged May 22 incident.
Court documents say Sterling entered a mosque in West Seattle, was aggressive with two men and became angry when asked to leave.
Documents say Sterling called them derogatory names and made statements including “send you boys back home.”
Documents say Sterling opened his car door, grabbed a stick and screamed profanities and threats at the men before leaving.
Police say an officer who took the police report later saw Sterling and arrested him.
Police say Sterling told them he went inside the mosque, but claimed the men there, who he referred to as radical Islamists, threatened him.
