INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Jorie Allen has become the second player from Bedford North Lawrence to earn the IndyStar Miss Basketball Award winner.

The announcement was made at the newspaper’s annual sports banquet Sunday night.

Allen scored a school-record 1,930 career points and was part of four sectional titles and will continue playing at Indiana University next season.

She received 56 votes. Runner-up Lilly Hatton of North Harrison had 36 and Warren Central’s Shaila Beeler finished third with 32.

The 6-foot-1 Allen joins 1992 winner, Marla Inman, as the school’s only Miss Basketball winners. The school’s most recognizable basketball alum, Damon Bailey, was the 1990 Mr. Basketball winner.

Allen averaged 19.1 points, 8.0 rebound and 3.3 assists last season and made the first team of The Associated Press’ all-state team.
