WHITEVILLE, N.C. (AP) - A North Carolina sheriff’s office says a homeowner grabbed a knife and stabbed an intruder multiple times after a break-in.
The Columbus County Sheriff’s Office tells news outlets that deputies and emergency workers were sent to a home outside of Tabor City on Monday after receiving reports of a stabbing. Investigators say the intruder broke into the home and assaulted the homeowner as she slept, and the homeowner grabbed a knife and stabbed the man multiple times.
According to the sheriff’s office, the man was taken to a South Carolina hospital for treatment before he was transferred to another hospital in the state.
Authorities say an investigation is continuing.
