QUITMAN, Miss. (AP) - An inmate at a Mississippi jail is being treated for injuries after a fight investigators believe started over a sandwich.

The Meridian Star reports Sheriff Todd Kemp says the incident between two cellmates happened Thursday.

Kemp says Joey Jenkins was being held on charges of shooting into a dwelling and aggravated assault. Dusty Sullivan, who shares a cell with Jenkins, faces a burglary charge.

Kemp says the men have shared living space for several months without incident.

He says it’s not clear who started Thursday’s fight.

Kemp says Jenkins is being treated for facial injuries at University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. He says assault charges are pending against Sullivan, who was not hurt.
