The Washington Nationals released their 25-man roster for the NL Championship Series against the St. Louis Cardinals — technically featuring 26 men.

Relief pitcher Daniel Hudson was placed on paternity leave for the start of the NLCS and will be eligible to return after his wife delivers their baby.

When Hudson returns, reliever Wander Suero will be removed from the roster to keep it to 25 men.

The paternity leave had to be approved by MLB, MASN reported.

Hudson has served as the Nationals’ closer in the playoffs so far, with Sean Doolittle as his eighth inning setup man. With Hudson out, Doolittle is the likely candidate to pitch the ninth.

The series begins Friday in St. Louis. See the full roster below:

Pitchers: Patrick Corbin, Sean Doolittle, Roenis Elias, Javy Guerra, Tanner Rainey, Fernando Rodney, Anibal Sanchez, Max Scherzer, Stephen Strasburg, Wander Suero (to be replaced by Daniel Hudson), Austin Voth

Catchers: Yan Gomes, Kurt Suzuki
