PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Police are looking for five people they say were involved in an early morning home invasion in which a victim was struck in the head with a hammer.
Providence police tell The Providence Journal that four people, two with guns, burst into an apartment early Monday.
A 28-year-old man told police he was sleeping with his 5-year-old son and his girlfriend when the men kicked in his door.
Officers found the man with blood on his shirt, a puncture wound on his shoulder, scratches on his back, and bumps on his head. He was taken to the hospital. A witness said one suspect pointed a gun at the woman and the child.
A fifth person was waiting outside and fled in a car reported stolen with the four other suspects.
