Stephen Strasburg became the third pitcher in history to strike out at least 10 batters in four of his first seven postseason starts, according to MLB Stats.

Strasburg fanned 12 batters in seven innings on Monday at Nationals Park in Game 3 of the National League Championship Series against the St. Louis Cardinals.

He joined Bob Gibson, a former St. Louis great, and Cliff Lee in that group.

Washington led 8-1 going into the top of the eighth and was looking to take a 3-0 lead in the series. Game 4 is Tuesday at Nationals Park. Strasburg gave up seven hits and one run in seven innings.

The Nationals are seeking their first World Series berth and first trip to the Fall Classic for a D.C. team since the Washington Senators in 1933.
