MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - Officials say Vermonters turned in more than 3.5 tons of unwanted, unused and expired medications on the 18th nationwide Prescription Drug Take Back Day.

The office of Republican Gov. Phil Scott announced Thursday that the 6,734 pounds of medications collected at more than 60 sites across the state was the largest amount since the fall of 2015.

Saturday’s event marked the time that e-cigarette and other vaping devices could also be turned in.
