The baseball and hockey worlds collided at Game 4 of the National League Division Series when the Washington Nationals brought in Alex Ovechkin to throw out the ceremonial first pitch.

The Capitals winger, a southpaw, put it over the plate and outfielder Adam Eaton caught it:

Ovechkin is becoming a familiar face at the ballpark. He also partied at Nationals Park back in June 2018 mere days after winning the Stanley Cup.

The Nationals might be hoping for some of the Capitals’ magic to rub off on them. Entering Monday night, they were one loss away from playoff elimination. The Nationals have never made it out of the NLDS — just as the Capitals had not made it past the second round of the playoffs during the Ovechkin era until 2017-18.
