HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) - The Mississippi Supreme Court says it will not consider an appeal from a woman convicted on charges related to the 2015 killing of two Hattiesburg police officers.

The Hattiesburg American reports the court on Thursday declined to re-examine Joanie Calloway’s case.

Calloway , now 26, was convicted in 2017 on two charges connected to the shooting deaths of officers Liquori Tate and Benjamin Deen. She was sentenced to 25 years for attempted accessory after the fact of capital murder and five years for hindering prosecution.

Investigators said Calloway was driving the car in which the alleged shooter and another man were riding when she was pulled over by Deen. Police said after Tate arrived to help Deen, one of the men got out of the car and shot both officers.
