PASSAIC, N.J. (AP) - Authorities say a bookkeeper for a wholesale food distribution company stole more than $100,000 from the firm.
Bergen County prosecutors say Stefany Urias took customer checks and money orders without her employer’s authorization and deposited them into her personal bank account. The 32-year-old Paterson woman is charged with theft by deception, computer criminal activity, forgery and falsifying records.
Urias was arrested Tuesday and has been released pending a court hearing later this month. It wasn’t known Thursday if she’s retained an attorney.
