NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) - A Connecticut man authorities say stabbed his wife during a domestic dispute last week is now facing a murder charge in light of her death over the weekend.
Emanuel Dominguez-Villagomez was held on $1 million bond at his arraignment on the murder charge Tuesday. He had previously been charged with first-degree assault, risk of injury to a minor, reckless endangerment, and unlawful restraint.
Police say the 31-year-old Dominguez-Villagomez stabbed Monica Dominguez 20 to 30 times with a knife during an argument in their Cheshire home on Sept. 11.
Monica Dominguez died at the hospital on Sunday.
Police say the couple’s 11-year-old son called 911. The boy and his 2-year-old sister are now in state custody.
A voicemail message was left with Dominguez-Villagomez’s public defender.
