RUTLAND, Vt. (AP) - A Vermont man who admitted he shot and killed his girlfriend at their home in 2016 is going to serve eight years in prison.
Frank Weir had pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in March in the 2017 death of 57-year-old Donna Marzilli.
WCAX-TV reports that the Weir was sentenced Tuesday to a suspended prison sentence of 20 years to life with eight years to serve. He is already serving time on a federal gun charge.
Police say Weir called 911 in February 2017 to report that Marzilli was shot during a dispute.
Authorities say they found dozens of other guns in Weir’s home, including a machine gun with a destroyed serial number, which triggered a federal gun charge.
