KAILUA-KONA, Hawaii (AP) - A woman has changed her plea to a charge she killed one person in a double stabbing in a Hawaii Island park, a report said.

Kaleianuenue Borero-Kaluna, 19, entered a plea of no contest to manslaughter Tuesday, West Hawaii Today reported Wednesday.

Prosecutors dropped attempted first-degree and attempted second-degree murder charges in exchange for the plea due to extreme mental or emotional disturbance at the time of the stabbings, court documents said.

She faces up to 20 years in prison at a sentencing hearing scheduled for Dec. 6.

Borero-Kaluna wounded her 36-year-old boyfriend and killed 35-year-old Marie Lyn Boyles at Whittington Beach Park April 26, authorities said.

Both victims suffered multiple stab wounds from a knife with a blade between 6 and 8 inches (15 and 20 centimeters) long at the county park off Highway 11, authorities said.

The man suffered injuries to his shoulder, right rib and torso, and right hip areas and was treated at Hilo Medical Center, authorities said.

Borero-Kaluna was eight months pregnant at the time, officials said.

In July a district court judge found Borero-Kaluna was fit to go on trial after three doctors split in their evaluations of whether she was fit to proceed and criminally responsible for her conduct. A trial was scheduled to begin Oct. 22.

Borero-Kaluna remains in custody at Hawaii Community Correctional Center for lack of $150,000 bail.
