WATERBURY, Conn. (AP) - A 30-year-old woman who had just gotten off a Connecticut transit bus was struck and killed by a car driver who left the scene but later returned and was arrested.

Police in Waterbury say the bus passenger was struck shortly before 8 p.m. Monday and died at the scene. Her name has not been released.

Authorities identified the driver as 32-year-old Kristen Mulcahy.

Police say Mulcahy already was wanted on charges she assaulted relatives earlier Monday. She was charged in connection with the alleged assaults, but charges related to the bus passenger were not immediately filed.

Officials say Mulcahy had a panic attack and was taken to a hospital. Her mother declined to comment on the accident Tuesday and said her daughter was still in the hospital.
