GERING, Neb. (AP) - A Gering woman accused of stealing from her grandmother has been convicted.
The Scottsbluff Star-Herald reports that a jury found 40-year-old Crystal Lessert guilty Wednesday of abuse of a vulnerable adult. Online court records don’t yet show a sentencing date.
Court records say Lessert held a power of attorney and was responsible for her 80-year-old grandmother’s finances. The records say Lessert had been inconsistent in pay her grandmother’s nursing home bill. A review of the older woman’s bank records showed more than two dozen questionable transactions, including payment for a tattoo.
