HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - A Connecticut police officer charged with assaulting a former girlfriend and pistol whipping a man she was with has been stripped of his duties.
Hartford police say Officer Joven Gonzalez was arrested Sunday after going to a city hotel and attacking the couple.
He was held on $150,000 bond and faces arraignment Monday on several charges including assault. His case was not listed in online court records and it was not clear if he has a lawyer.
Investigators say the 26-year-old Gonzalez attacked the couple Sunday morning while off duty. He was arrested around 9 p.m. following an investigation.
Police said the woman sustained only minor injuries, but the man sought medical treatment for cuts to the head before filing a complaint with police.
