NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) - Authorities in Connecticut are investigating the death of a man in a police detention center.

Desohn Wilson, 31, had been arrested on domestic violence charges. He was brought in to the detention center at New Haven police headquarters early Wednesday morning and had a court appearance scheduled later that day.

Wilson was found unresponsive in his cell less than an hour after he was brought in, according to police. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police said Wilson’s death is believed to be “non-criminal.” The cause of death will be determined by the chief medical examiner.
