KINGMAN, Ariz. (AP) - An investigation is underway after one man died and two others were shot at in an attempted burglary in Dolan Springs, deputies said.

The Mohave County sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a man burglarizing a Kingman home Wednesday when two neighbors went to check on the residence, the Daily Miner reported.

The suspected burglar fired a rifle at the neighbors, hitting one of them multiple times before they returned gunfire and wounded the suspect as he fled into the desert, deputies said.

Dispatch received a call reporting a man was seen with gunshot wounds around 3:40 p.m., authorities said.

The sheriff’s office reported that the suspect was found dead in the desert area surrounding the home. He was identified as Alan Marc Baker, 51, of Dolan Springs.

Deputies believe Baker could be linked to other burglaries in the area.

The injured neighbor was flown to a Las Vegas hospital in critical condition, deputies said on Facebook.
