IRVING, Texas (AP) - Police in the Dallas suburb of Irving fatally shot a man who was wielding a shotgun after they say he blasted his way into a closed convenience store Thursday, according to the police department.

An employee hiding in a washroom at a 7-Eleven reported that a man was shooting out the store’s glass doors shortly after 1 a.m., according to a statement from the Irving Police Department. Officers arrived to find a man emerging from the business.

An officer ordered the man to drop the shotgun, but he didn’t. The officer then shot the suspect dead, police said.
