The Washington Bullets didn’t become the Washington Wizards until 1997. But the team’s fans noticed something off Sunday when watching “The Last Dance,” ESPN’s 10-part documentary about Michael Jordan’s final season with the Chicago Bulls.
During a section about the 1986 season, when Jordan’s Bulls sneaked into the playoffs as an eighth seed, the documentary omitted Washington’s former team name when a graphic showed the final standings from that year.
Instead of the Bullets, the documentary showed “Wizards.”
ESPN politically corrected the NBA standings in 1986- the Washington Bullets had the 6th seed- the Wizards didn’t exist until 1997. #TheLastDance pic.twitter.com/ryNPIErOau

It appears the graphic wasn’t intentional. A source familiar with the situation told The Washington Times that ESPN is aware of the error and that the mistake will be fixed for future airings.
