ST. ALBANS, Vt. (AP) - A St. Albans police officer is facing charges of sexually assaulting a woman in the past and recently kidnapping and assaulting her to keep her quiet, Vermont State Police said.

Zachary Pigeon, 29, was arrested on Sunday on suspicion of repeatedly sexually assaulting a woman over a period of years in the mid-2000s, police said. He and his father, Allen Pigeon, 56, of St. Albans, are also charged with recently kidnapping, assaulting and threatening her to try to prevent her from speaking about the incidents, police said.

It was not immediately known if the two men are being represented by attorneys. They were expected to be arraigned on Monday.
