OMAHA, Neb. (AP) - A man who died after crashing a stolen vehicle into a suburban Omaha house had been stabbed as he tried to break into a car, Bellevue police reported.

The crash happened in the early-morning hours Wednesday, after Bellevue police received a call around 1 a.m. from a man who said he had confronted two other men breaking into his vehicle, the Omaha World-Herald reported.

Police said the two men fled the confrontation in an Infiniti SUV that had been reported stolen from Omaha. The man who had been stabbed was driving and crashed into a house shortly after fleeing, Police Lt. Andy Jashinske said. The driver, whose name was not immediately released, was declared dead at the scene. Police did not find the other man.

It was unclear whether anyone was facing charges in the driver’s stabbing.
