OTAY MESA, Calif. (AP) - The body of a man found in a Southern California wilderness area matches the description of a motorcyclist who went missing after going on a solo dirt bike ride last weekend, authorities said Wednesday.
Roberto Camou, 48, sent a selfie from atop his motorcycle to family members around midday Saturday near Otay Mountain south of San Diego, KFMB-TV reported. His family reported him missing after he failed to return home as planned that afternoon.
Deputies were on the scene where the body was found near Otay Open Space Preserve, San Diego County Sheriff’s Department officials said. No other details were immediately available.
Camou, who works as a courtroom clerk at the Chula Vista courthouse, was a skilled motorcycle rider, the news station reported.
A sheriff’s search team with help from helicopter crews and volunteers combed the area for days.
