PHILADELPHIA (AP) - A northeast Philadelphia pizza shop owner shot and wounded an armed teenage suspect during an attempted robbery over the weekend, police said.
Police allege that the 16-year-old youth entered the pizza shop in the Wissinoming neighborhood shortly before 10:30 p.m. Saturday and tried to hold up the establishment at gunpoint.
The owner, who has a valid permit to carry a firearm, shot the suspect in the top of the left hand, police said. The teenager was taken to Jefferson-Frankford Hospital by private vehicle and listed in stable condition. The teen is being held as a prisoner at the hospital, police said.
