ORANGE, Calif. (AP) - A man who was being driven to a hospital with a gunshot wound died after the car he was riding in crashed in Southern California, police said.

Nobody was injured in the crash involving two vehicles last week at an intersection in Orange, police Lt. Jennifer Amat said.

Responding officers found a man in one of the cars suffering from a gunshot wound, Amat said.

The man, who was not identified, was rushed to a hospital, where he died, the Orange County Register reported Tuesday.

Officials did not have details about what caused the crash.

Investigators believe the shooting happened somewhere else and could be gang-related, Amat said. They are treating the incident as a homicide, though no arrests have been made, the newspaper said.

Those riding in the car with the gunshot victim were questioned at the scene and released.
