ST. LOUIS (AP) - One of two women who were hit by a car as they stood on the side of Interstate 44 near the Gateway Arch has died, police in St. Louis said.
The incident happened around 8 p.m. Monday, as two women were standing along the interstate by their disabled car across from the north end of the Gateway Arch grounds, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported. As they waited for assistance, they were struck by another vehicle, police said.
Both women were taken to a hospital, where one died. Police have not released their names.
Police said the person who hit the women stopped at the scene. No charges had been announced by Tuesday morning. The investigation into the crash continues, police said.
