Maine’s winter hunting season wrapping up for the year

AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) - Maine’s winter hunting seasons are heading into their final weeks of the year.

Maine allows hunting seasons for animals such as gray squirrels, snowshoe hares, bobcats and foxes. The season for bobcats ends on Feb. 21, followed by foxes on Feb. 28. The falconry season for gray squirrels ends on Feb. 28.

The snowshoe hare season ends on March 31, except on Vinalhaven Island, where it ends on Feb. 28.

The state’s next major hunting season is the spring turkey hunt, which runs from May 4 to June 6.
