PHILADELPHIA (AP) - A home invasion in Philadelphia ended with two people being shot in the head, authorities said, leaving both victims critically injured.

The shootings occurred shortly before 10 p.m. Monday at a Frankford Avenue home. The gunman ransacked the home before fleeing the scene on foot.

After they were shot, the two victims - a man and a woman, both in their 20s - fled the home and flagged down a passing motorist, who initially planned to take them to a hospital. But the driver soon alerted police and then met up with emergency responders, who took the victims to the hospital.

The names of the victims were not released, and it wasn’t clear if either one lived at the residence. Authorities said their injuries were not considered life threatening, but further details were not disclosed.
