Author and activist Marianne Williamson endorsed Sen. Bernie Sanders Sunday as he campaigned in Texas, saying the energy is with the self-declared socialist and Democratic frontrunner.

Ms. Williamson suspended her campaign last month, but joined Mr. Sanders on the trail in Austin on Sunday.

The Vermont Independent campaigned in an Austin park, drawing more than 12,000 people according to his campaign.

In Houston on Sunday afternoon, nearly 7,000 joined the candidate for a rally.

“Our unrivaled grassroots energy was on full display across the Lone Star State this weekend,” said Chris Chu de León, the Sanders’ 2020 Texas State Coordinator. “With Bernie on top of the ticket, we will expand the Texas electorate and build the multi-generational, multiracial movement needed to defeat Donald Trump.”

Mr. Sanders leads the field nationally as well as in Texas among Democratic voters according to recent polls.
