New York Rangers forward Pavel Buchnevich and goaltender Igor Shesterkin were involved in a car crash in Brooklyn on Sunday night, team President John Davidson announced.

“Igor was driving, and apparently a vehicle pulled a U-turn in front of them and there was a collision,” Davidson said.

Shesterkin sustained a “small” rib fracture and is out for a couple of weeks until he is reassessed. Buchnevich was “shaken up,” Davidson said, and is listed as day to day.

Both players were wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash.

Shesterkin, a 24-year-old rookie, is 6-1-0 in his first seven NHL starts. Buchnevich, also 24, is the team’s fifth-leading goal-scorer with 14 this year.
