EMIGRANT GAP, Calif. (AP) - Three people were injured Tuesday after several big rigs collided, leading to the closure of the eastbound lanes of Interstate 80 near the community of Emigrant Gap, an official said.

California Highway Patrol Officer Chris Nave said officers were working to remove a person trapped in one of the big rigs.

In a first collision, the driver of a big rig heading west lost control, hit the center divider, flipped over and ended up on the eastbound fast lane. Five other rigs heading east then crashed against each other, blocking all eastbound lanes of I-80, Nave said.

Nave said officers were also working to clear oil and almond milk spillages.

It could be hours before the highway reopens, he said.
