HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - A Connecticut man has pleaded guilty to shooting another man twice in the face.

Julio Monet accepted a plea agreement Wednesday and pleaded guilty to assault, firearm and probation violation charges, The Hartford Courant reported.

Authorities obtained video that shows Monet shooting Tyler Cook in the face, then slapping him before picking up a second gun and shooting him in the face again on Aug. 22, 2018.

Cook survived.

Monet was apprehended within 30 minutes of the shooting, and told detectives he saw Cook reach for a gun, authorities said.

Monet attempted to get a better deal before pleading guilty, requesting a 10-year prison sentence and 10 years of special parole, but Hartford Superior Court Judge Laura Baldini denied the request.

Monet was sentenced to 13 1/2 years in prison followed by 8 1/2 years on special parole.
