NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - A reputed mobster who admitted plotting to distribute cocaine has been sentenced to more than six years in federal prison.
Mario Galli III, 28, of Toms River, will also have to serve three years of supervised release once he’s freed from prison under the sentence imposed Thursday. He had pleaded guilty in March to possessing cocaine with intent to distribute and a weapons count and received a 76-month term for those offenses.
Galli is an associate of the DeCavalcante crime family, federal prosecutors said.
At the time of his arrest last September, he was on supervised federal release from a case in which he pleaded guilty to selling more than 500 grams of cocaine for crime family members.
