DEDHAM, Maine (AP) - An 89-year-old man has died in a four-vehicle crash in Maine, authorities say.

Edwin Roberts was driving an SUV on the Pine Trail Road in Dedham when he failed to stop at the intersection of Route 1A, the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office told the Bangor Daily News.

Roberts, of Dedham, drove into the southbound travel lane in front of a pickup truck towing a camper driven by a Massachusetts man. The camper hit Roberts’ car on the driver’s side, and both vehicles veered into the other side of the road.

They crashed into a third vehicle. A fourth vehicle that coudn’t stop in time rear-ended Roberts’ SUV.

Roberts died at the scene, police said.

Four other people were taken to the hospital with injuries not considered life threatening.
