SKIPPERS, Va. (AP) - Authorities in Virginia have announced that foul play is suspected in the death of a 27-year-old North Carolina man found in a ditch last week.
The Greensville County Sheriff’s Office discovered the body face down in the hole in Skippers, Virginia, on Thursday afternoon, Sheriff W. T. Jarratt Jr. said in a statement. The office identified the man on Saturday as Motique Desmond Jackson, of Weldon, North Carolina.
Police haven’t commented on Jackson’s cause of death or whether they’ve identified any suspects in the case.
An investigator said the homicide is unusual in the area.
“This is a very quiet portion of the county, we hardly ever have any calls for service out here,” Det. Chris Rook told WTVR-TV.
The investigation is ongoing.
