CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (AP) - A former inmate at a federal prison in West Virginia has been charged with manslaughter and assault in connection with the slaying of another inmate, officials said.
Stephen Crawford, 41, was indicted Tuesday in the March 2015 death of an inmate at the U.S. Penitentiary Hazelton in Preston County, news outlets reported citing a statement from U.S. Attorney Bill Powell. Crawford is accused of stabbing another inmate, who died as a result.
Crawford could face up to 15 years in federal prison if convicted on the manslaughter charge, the statement said.
