EWING, N.J. (AP) - A small airplane went off the runway Thursday at an airport in central New Jersey, but no injuries were reported.

The pilot of the Cessna plane was trying to land around 9:15 a.m. when it went off Runway 34 at Trenton-Mercer Airport in Ewing and ended up in a grassy area, authorities said.

It was not immediately clear how many people were on board the plane, which had also taken off from the airport earlier in the day.

Both runways at the airport were closed for about 30 minutes while the plane was removed.

It wasn’t immediately known what caused the plane to go off the runway. The matter remains under investigation, officials said.
