YouTube said Tuesday that it suspended One America News Network for violating its COVID-19 misinformation policy.

“After careful review, we removed a video from OANN and issued a strike on the channel for violating our COVID-19 misinformation policy, which prohibits content claiming there’s a guaranteed cure,” said Ivy Choi, YouTube spokesperson, in a statement.

“Additionally, due to repeated violations of our COVID-19 misinformation policy and other channel monetization policies, we’ve suspended the channel from the YouTube Partner Program and as a result, its monetization on YouTube.”

OANN will be able to re-apply for the YouTube Partner Program and restart the monetization process, according to YouTube.

The decision to suspend OANN comes after YouTube previously sought less restrictive actions against the conservative outlet on its platform. Earlier this month, YouTube said it decided against removing a video from OANN claiming President Trump won reelection and alleging that Democrats were tossing Republican ballots.

YouTube removed ads from that video because the company determined that it contained false content about elections, but Ms. Choi said the content did not violate the company’s community guidelines.

The latest action by YouTube against OANN comes amid four Democratic senators urging YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki to remove videos they say contains election misinformation.

Democratic Sens. Robert Menendez of New Jersey, Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota, Mazie Hirono of Hawaii, and Gary Peters of Michigan wrote on Tuesday to YouTube’s CEO to request that her company, “take responsibility and immediately stop the spread of misinformation and manipulated media.”

The senators pointed to the Georgia runoff elections as prompting their urgency, and asked for Ms. Wojcicki to reply by December 8 ahead of the January run-off elections.
