The postponed Maine Maple Sunday has been kicked into the fall, but the taste is just as sweet.
Thirty maple farms throughout the state are hosting open houses Saturday and Sunday on Maine Maple Producers Weekend.
People enjoying the sights, smells and sweet tastes from sugarhouses are asked to follow safety guidelines including wearing masks and practicing social distancing. Hand sanitizing stations are available as well.
Maine Maple Producers Association President Scott Dunn said there will be a different vibe holding the event in the fall, but said it will still be an opportunity to celebrate.
Typically, Maine Maple Sunday is held on the fourth Sunday in March with about 100 sugarhouses across the state participating.
