RICHLAND, Miss. (AP) - A memorial service has been set for a police dog who served the City of Richland for six years.

K-9 Rico died Monday after battling several unspecified medical problems, the department said in a post on Facebook.

The service is scheduled for 9 a.m. Thursday inside the Richland Recreation Center, WAPT-TV reported.

Rico was credited with several drug busts and arrests over the years, including the capture of a wanted felon who was found hiding underneath a house.

Dispatch will do Rico’s final call on the radio and his final ride through the city, a suburb of Jackson, will be held immediately following Thursday’s service.
