FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) - Fort Lauderdale’s airport was evacuated for hours Thursday after officials feared a vehicle parked near two terminals might contain a bomb. None was found.

The Broward Sheriff’s Office said someone spotted “suspicious wires” in a vehicle parked outside Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport shortly after 1 a.m. The airport was evacuated and entry roads closed.

The sheriff bomb squad searched the vehicle and found the wires were not a threat.

The airport reopened at 7 a.m. and officials said operations were returning to normal, but numerous flights were delayed.
