NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (AP) - Massachusetts authorities on Thursday identified the two victims of a Monday fire in New Bedford.
Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn III’s office said the two killed in the blaze are Tomas Gomez-Delacruz, 49, and Juan Macario-Mejia, 40, both of New Bedford.
Officials said the cause of the fire remains under investigation, but foul play is not suspected.
The morning fire ripped through two mixed use residential and commercial buildings in the fishing port south of Boston.
Fire officials say the blaze appears to have started in an area common to both buildings and spread rapidly in both structures, presenting challenges for firefighters.
