Demi Lovato wants gender reveal parties in the dustbin of history due to claims that they are inherently transphobic.

The “Confident” singer told her nearly 100 million fans she was sure of the arguments in “Beyond the Gender Binary” by trans writer ALOK.

“Thank you for sharing your knowledge and educating us always,” she told the writer, who goes by They/Them, on Instagram. “Repost: ‘This is not about being politically correct, it’s about being correct. The refusal to acknowledge this stems from a misunderstanding of what transphobia is.’”

Ms. Lovato then shared an extensive rationale for refraining from gender reveal parties by ALOK.

“It’s both insincere and incorrect to pretend that gender reveal parties are not transphobic,” the post reads. “You can’t have your proverbial pink-blue binary cake and eat it too. This is not about political correctness, it’s just … correct.”

The writer then addresses the “illusion that genitals = gender.”

“We condemn gender reveals not because of our identity, but because of reality,” the post continues. … There are boys with vaginas and girls with penises and that there are people who are neither boys nor girls.”

Ms. Lovato‘s post generated nearly 250,000 “likes,” although it also appeared to alienate much of her fanbase.

“Demi I love you and I’ve always supported you, but no,” replied one reader.

Another predicted: “This is the beginning of the end.”
