WICHITA, Kan. (AP) - Wichita recorded two fatal shootings in separate incidents just hours into the New Year, police said.
Police responding to a call about 12:05 a.m. Friday in southeast Wichita found 22-year-old Gabrial Campos-Torres lying on a sidewalk. He had been shot and died at the scene, police spokesman Charley Davidson said.
Noah Martin, 18, of Wichita and a 16-year-old boy were arrested on suspicion of second-degree murder, Davidson said.
The second shooting was reported at 4 a.m. Friday at a New Year’s party with at least 50 people in northwest Wichita
Nicholas Sims, 26, died after being shot during an argument, Davidson said.
Davidson said the incident was not random and investigators were trying to determine the circumstances of the shooting.
