A third Washington Wizards player tested positive for the coronavirus Thursday, ESPN reported.
The positive result is the latest complication for Washington with the virus. After two players tested positive on Tuesday, the Wizards have had two games postponed because of contact tracing protocols. The team was forced to push back Wednesday’s game against the Utah Jazz and Friday’s game at Detroit.
The NBA, as a whole, has struggled to combat the virus this season. The league implemented stricter protocols Tuesday following an owners’ meeting. The changes included no hugs after games, further enforcing mask-wearing on the sidelines and the banning of player guests on road trips.
Washington’s next game is scheduled for Sunday against the Cleveland Cavaliers. As of now, it has not been postponed.
According to the NBA, 16 new players have tested positive since Jan. 6.
