The progressive left continues its erosion of American institutions – from attempting to end the filibuster in the Senate, proposing expansion of the Supreme Court, putting Washington, D.C. on a pathway to statehood, to defunding or entirely abolishing, the police.

These assaults on the Constitution, equal justice and rule of law, seems unstoppable. Even though most of these ideas are unpopular with the American people, regardless, the left is committed to moving forward with them at full throttle.

By contrast, there is a massive national security and humanitarian crisis at our southern border which the Biden administration is barely acknowledging, and is failing catastrophically to address. Why do they have time and energy to advance their radical ideas, but no interest or desire to solve this enormous threat? They cannot possibly claim to be caught flat-footed with the recent border surge, since they signaled this was the outcome they wanted for months prior to the election. So why is it being allowed to continue — and expand?

Initially they tried the blame game — it was Donald Trump’s fault. But no one took that bait. They tell us what they think we want to hear, but it’s not the truth, and the nation knows it. And now, the lack of policy and leadership to address this problem is of great concern to a majority of Americans, and even the main stream media are now catching on to the devastating effects of this foreseeable crisis. Yet the Biden administration planned for it to happen and has chosen to weather this crisis rather than address it head-on and fix it.

I believe there are three reasons for this:

1. The goal has always been to turn Texas blue and to bring more Democratic voters into red or purple states. This immigration influx provides the perfect opportunity to do so and will place these individuals strategically where they are most needed for political purposes. Once the crisis is finally addressed it will already be too late — these people will already be in the country, will be staying here and will definitely be beholden to the Democrats since President Biden invited them to come, has let them in and will allow them to remain.

2. As the COVID-19 pandemic is continuing to become less and less of a threat and less of a story, the opportunities for power grabs and control are diminishing, especially by Democratic governors and mayors. By allowing COVID-infected patients into the country, in unknown numbers, and sending them all over the nation, we will likely see outbreaks and hotspots develop which will drive up the numbers, restart the fear and return the levers of control to those who wish for the pandemic to continue.

3. The border crisis provides a distraction to all the other things the Biden administration is doing which are also unpopular — like the recent $2T partisan spend, efforts to end the filibuster, a push to expand the Supreme Court, blocking election integrity initiatives, making D.C. a state, defunding the police and punishing and silencing Americans who disagree with the left.

By “taking the hit” on this singular border crisis, which accomplishes several purposes for them regardless of popularity, it provides cover for these other issues which would potentially be even more volatile and controversial than this one. They are counting on the charity and compassion of the American people to see the humanitarian need of those at the border, especially the unaccompanied minors, and forget it was a crisis that was self-created.

The fact that neither the president nor the vice president (who has been specifically designated to lead the administration’s border response) have been to the border to evaluate the situation firsthand tells us everything we need to know. This is not a crisis to the administration — for them, it is an opportunity.

But what about for the rest of us? Does anything about open borders benefit hard working, tax paying, law abiding Americans? What about this increasing influx of immigrants makes our communities safer, our streets cleaner, our schools better, our health care more accessible and help end the COVID-19 pandemic? None of it. So why is an open border policy that is so unpopular among the American people being force-fed upon us by our leaders?

The truth is hard to hear, but here it is — they don’t care. They don’t care about you, your opinion, your community, your safety, your health or your security. If they did, their decisions would look very different. They care about one thing – power. Power over you. Power that makes you powerless. Power that makes you dependent on government — the very government that is unjustly stealing your freedom and liberty and is rendering you unable to resist or fight against them. Don’t be fooled.

They are causing problems culturally and systemically that are too large for any one person or institution to fix, creating a situation in which the leadership on the left is facilitating the very crises which they are positioning themselves to be the perfect — and only — solution capable of resolving it all.
