OPINION:
This last week provides us with two shocking examples of how the government industrial complex is working against us citizens and this country’s founding principles.
Originally, my column was going to be about former President George W. Bush‘s shocking and atrocious comments at Shanksville, Pennsylvania, during the September 11th memorial event. His remarks equated the January 6th capital protesters with mass-murdering savage terrorists. His comments alone were disgusting, but even more so was where he chose to deliver them— on hallowed ground. Shanksville was where Americans of all stripes banded together on an airplane to save the Capitol and White House from attack. They knew the only way to stop that horror would be to sacrifice their own lives. And they did.
Many of us have viewed George W. Bush as well-meaning but often wrong. He was a ‘moderate’ who cared first for the country even though many of his ideas perpetuated policies with which I disagreed vehemently. But his comments on 9/11 disabused me of that notion. His spewing of the establishment’s hateful and dangerous narrative that tens of millions of Americans are the equivalent of al-Qaeda is beyond the pale.
January 6th was a protest by people who believed they were defending democracy. No one has been charged with murder—no one with treason. The majority have only been charged with misdemeanors like trespassing or vandalism. But Mr. Bush equates our fellow Americans with mass-murdering pedophile terrorists. How dare he.
Just when you think it can’t get much worse than that, it did. Suddenly we learn of a new book by the Washington Post’s Bob Woodward and Robert Costa. They reveal General Mark Milley, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, made secret calls to his counterpart of our main geopolitical foe: China. Gen. Milley did so, they tell us because he decided that former President Donald J. Trump could not be trusted in the aftermath of the 2020 presidential election.
The Federalist reports, “[In] the final days of the Trump administration out of hysteria that President Donald Trump might order an attack… Milley made two phone calls to Gen. Li Zuocheng of the People’s Liberation Army… One call occurred on Oct. 30, 2020 — four days before the November election — and one on Jan. 8 of this year, two days after the Capitol riot … In each, Milley assured the Chinese the United States was not preparing to strike. ‘General Li, I want to assure you that the American government is stable and everything is going to be okay,’ Milley reportedly told Zuocheng in October. ‘We are not going to attack or conduct any kinetic operations against you.’ According to Woodward and Acosta, Milley even pledged to alert the Chinese in advance of an impending strike. ‘General Li, you and I have known each other for now five years. If we’re going to attack, I’m going to call you ahead of time. It’s not going to be a surprise,’ Milley allegedly said.”
There are now multiple attempts by the swamp to retreat on this reporting, including the claim that “many” people knew Gen. Milley was doing it (except the Commander-in-Chief, of course). Still, there is denial that Gen. Milley’s conversation with the Chinese took place. The word treason is thrown around a lot these days, but if you want to know what it looks like, this is it.
The book also implies CIA Director Gina Haspel and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi were involved and encouraged Gen. Milley to interfere in the normal constitutional order and bypass President Trump in this shocking, illegal, and certainly unconstitutional process.
But then again, what Jim Comey and the FBI did to Mr. Trump and his team just after the 2016 election was also shocking, illegal, and unconstitutional. And no one has faced any repercussions. It’s almost as if this Banana-Republic crime boss style of ‘governing’ is now the norm.
These details about Gen. Milley’s actions are presented as though they were a good thing. Many believe Gen. Milley or his associates ‘leaked’ it, specifically thinking he’d be hailed as a hero.
Mr. Bush‘s remarks on 9/11 to libel Americans as terrorists and the Gen. Milley revelation confirm what the American people have been worried about: The legitimacy not just of elections but of the system itself.
James Golden, aka Bo Snerdley and the former producer of the Rush Limbaugh show, tweeted about this growing suspicion of our government: “Massive distrust in main media outlets and electoral processes. Massive distrust key Military and Intelligence leaders. State-issued mandates eliminate freedoms. Budgets on deficit spending. High taxes. Massive welfare. Sound like a 3rd world nation?”
Make no mistake, and the media and swamp will try to gaslight you into believing none of this matters, but this is the most dangerous period of time, aside from the American Civil War, that we have faced. None of this could be happening because someone had a bad day. It is a reflection of an internal cancer that appears now to be disabling the very foundation the Founders established to keep this nation free and safe.
