OPINION:
According to the Constitution, our government “shall protect — every State in this Union — against Invasion.” Yet the nightly campfires glow across the Rio Grande, and migrants arrive by the busload, waiting for the impending dissolution of Title 42.
In newly dystopian El Paso, Texas, processing centers resemble a somnambulist’s maniacal 2 a.m. fridge raid: men, women and children huddled in space blankets are strewn across the floor like a blitzkrieg of jettisoned leftovers.
Where is the always-outraged Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in her ivory Manolo Blahniks, with her retinue of selectively righteous Democrats?
Most of America is clueless of the chaos at the border. A mere 6% of participants in a December Harvard/Harris poll selected the correct range of illegal border crossings in the past year, 2.75 million.
Against a national debt backdrop of $31 trillion, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy recently addressed Congress in an almsgiving carnival sideshow, a calculated distraction from our 8,000-plus daily border crossings. Nancy Pelosi and Kamala Harris swooned. And $45 billion snowed onto the leader of a corrupt Ukraine.
The $1.7 trillion omnibus bill, which allocated the $45 billion, was over 4,000 pages long and released at 2 a.m. on a Tuesday before an unscrutinized Friday vote. Some $410 million is headed to Middle Eastern border security, yet zero dollars are coming to our own border. Eighteen Senate Republicans voted a treasonous “aye.”
No longer a sovereign nation, America is on the brink of ruin. The time for a changing of the guard is now.
